Impact of a Voice on HAIs

By Clean Hands - Safe Hands

We’ve already talked about how our Real-Time Voice Reminder™ has a direct impact on hand hygiene, doubling it when it’s turned on. But the real question is, how does the voice reminder impact healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)?

Just as the voice reminder has a direct correlation with hand hygiene performance, it also has a direct correlation with HAIs. Across our hospital customers, once the voice reminder is turned on, HAIs decrease by a statistically significant 69%, as seen in the chart below.

Impact of Voice on HAIs

Sometimes the voice reminder has to be turned off for one reason or another. When the voice is turned off, HAIs nearly double. Unfortunately, HAI reduction isn’t sustainable without that in-the-moment reminder to keep hand hygiene performance high. After being turned off, when the voice sounds again, HAIs improve once more.
