With the importance hand hygiene plays on these unique units, Clean Hands – Safe Hands has been able to leverage the flexibility of the system to accommodate the unique needs of these units. Some of these changes include developing customized hand hygiene policies and workflows that are needed for these specialized areas, rapidly deploying the Natural Language Voice Reminder™, adaptable and unique hand hygiene protocols, and reports that are tailored specific to the quarantine units.
The image below shows how the Clean Hands – Safe Hands system allows a certain amount of time (determined by the facility) for the provider to sanitize before they are gently reminded by the Natural Language Voice Reminder™. These timings are flexible and can be tailored to COVID-19. For example, timings can be adjusted to allow additional time to don PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), and the voice reminder can be modified to say whatever the hospital would like or can even be turned off.
These hospitals are collecting actionable data that can be easily reported to public health officials. This allows public health to see an accurate picture of what hospitals are encountering in order to plan and allocate resources accordingly.
