Companies will partner on hand hygiene compliance solutions for hospitals; will discuss solutions and offer demos at upcoming APIC conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – DebMed and Clean Hands-Safe Hands announced today the formation of a strategic partnership to collaborate on technology and solutions to help healthcare facilities prevent and reduce Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs), which cause up to 75,000 deaths annually in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)1.

Both companies will be on hand to discuss their solutions at the 44th Annual Conference of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) in Portland, Ore., June 14-16.

“This historic alliance brings together the two most successful market-defining innovations to date in the important and rapidly growing hand hygiene compliance space,” said Didier Bouton, president of DebMed North America. “After an extensive search, we chose to partner with Clean Hands-Safe Hands.”

Clean Hands-Safe Hands is the creator of the wireless, clinician-centered, gentle voice reminder technology, enabling facilities to pursue a personal best approach to improving hand hygiene performance. DebMed is the inventor of the first and only clinical research proven group electronic monitoring system, which measures and reports accurate hand hygiene compliance based upon World Health Organization (WHO) 5 Moments and CDC guidelines. Electronically measuring hand hygiene compliance is the new gold standard for improving hand hygiene performance. Hand hygiene is the most important way for healthcare facilities to reduce HAIs, according to the WHO and CDC.

“We are delighted to launch this partnership with DebMed,” said Chris Hermann, PhD, and CEO of Clean Hands-Safe Hands. “DebMed is well-known as a world leader in hand hygiene compliance and skin care solutions. DebMed’s dispensing technology anchors our unique hand hygiene performance system for hospital clinicians. We look forward to a productive partnership as we explore new ways our products can complement each other and bring value to hospitals in their quest to reduce HAIs and improve patient safety.”

About Clean Hands – Safe Hands

Clean Hands – Safe Hands (CHSH) helps reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) by inspiring a personal-best approach to hand hygiene. Headquartered in Atlanta, the company began through a research consortium of the CDC, Emory University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Knowing that the primary accepted method of direct observation is ineffectual in reducing HAIs, physicians and technologists worked together to develop an innovative solution to the real-world problem. The CHSH technology supports a unique systematic process that drives behavioral change and delivers value to hospitals all along the journey to HAI reduction and prevention.
